What is Moral Injury?
Think back to that incident which ended with you thinking, "That was really messed up!"
Translation - No human being should be subjected to the sights, sounds, and smells which just assaulted me. I'd like it to go away, but this memory will stay with me." Whether you realized it or not, you suffered moral injury.
Moral injury happens to the whole self -- on the mental, emotional and spiritual planes at once. Thus, it is beyond the clinical diagnosis of secular clinical counselors, but it is not beyond the diagnosis of our God. The Divine Physician describes this injury in Psalm 32, and He has healing for it. God hears, understands, and answers.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed. Ps 34:18 EHV
...spiritual wounds in need of spiritual healing.

First Responder Support
Are you a First Responder?
First, thank you for running in to scenes from which others flee. Thank you for going into danger so that we can be safe. Our chaplains can serve you by bringing a caring heart, serving both the public and the First Responders.

Community and Congregations - Support Your First Responders
Institutional Ministries is a liaison to your congregation, to provide help in reaching people behind walls. You probably don’t think of Front-Line Workers as people behind walls. Neither do they. That’s part of what makes it so hard for them to reach out for help when they, themselves, are in need.
