Crossing Boundaries

When Jesus told us, his followers, to “make disciples of all nations”, that included all economic classes, all parts of town, all education levels, all religious backgrounds, and all the other divisions of the human race. We’re going to have trouble with that mandate if we don’t look beyond our own little division, or if we’re assuming “People are all alike, everybody thinks the same way I do.” We need to explore questions like, “How do you have a spiritual conversation with someone who has no religious background? What does the gospel mean to someone who is struggling to raise children with significant disabilities? If I’m from a privileged group, how can I talk as a brother or sister to someone from a disadvantaged minority?” Jesus crosses all boundaries, and he calls us to cross along with him and meet the people he loves.
